Stefan Necula
Architect, urban designer and 3D artist.
During my architectural career, I've collaborated with top-tier global firms, developing comprehensive proposals across public sector, infrastructure, hospitality, office, and residential. My experience includes both independent and team-based roles within renowned London and Oslo firms working globally, such as Haptic Architects, Grimshaw Architects, Hawkins Brown Architects and a several years tenure at Foster+Partners. Currently, I'm involved in designing masterplanning projects with Prior+Partners in various locations, challenging current urban and planning principles and designing the cities of the future.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Architecture from RIBA North and a Master's degree with Distinction from the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL since 2018. My architectural philosophy is rooted in the integration of focused design, the application of regenerative materials, and the use of natural and vernacular construction methodologies. I advocate for blending high-tech processes with traditional techniques, aiming to conceive architectural proposals that address both civic and environmental challenges.
Based in London for the past 12 years, I have had the privilege of engaging with a wide array of projects, each with its own unique size, profile, and location. My experience spans across multiple continents, including working on prestigious high-end office buildings and hospitality projects in Hong Kong, the Middle East, the Dominican Republic, and France. Additionally, I have contributed to the success of large-scale infrastructure projects in the UK and Canada, specifically focusing on the development of global mobility hubs and train stations. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with reputable clients in the US and the Middle East, producing innovative masterplanning proposals, employing strong sustainable and environmentally friendly drivers. On a smaller scale, I have also been involved in designing bespoke high-end residential and community-based projects in the UK, Romania, and Switzerland, where I engaged with both individual clients and local communities. This diverse range of experiences has allowed me to cultivate a deep understanding of various design styles, cultural contexts and clients’ requirements, making me a versatile and well-rounded architect.
Now based in Oslo, I'm expanding my expertise to Scandinavian design and sustainable, carbon-neutral approaches. This shift represents not just a geographical change, but a commitment to creating designs that respect and harmonise with the environment, aligning with the global imperative for environmental responsibility.
